About the Department

Soil Science is the key factor in food production and is at the forefront of agricultural and environmental issues such as land use, soil contamination, ground water quality and waste disposal. Our department addresses the challenge of developing environmentally sustainable agricultural systems to produce food for the growing world population. Both environmental and agricultural uses of soil are stressed as we educate the next generation of soil scientists in our teaching and research programs. We disseminate crucial knowledge to promote appropriate use, conservation, and improvement of soil via our extension activities.

The Department of Soil Science at the Federal University of Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria, through her state of the art technology and teaching aids, provide broad practical and theoretical training to students in the areas of soil genesis, classification, survey, chemistry, physics, mineralogy, fertility, plant nutrition, irrigation and drainage.
